A parenting specialist has reminded Meghan Markle and Prince Harry how important it is for their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to spend time together as a family.
Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Lambasted Over Parenting
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were recently spotted spending time alone on the luxury Caribbean island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines, not long after returning from a trip to Portugal following the Invictus Games in Germany. Their two young children were nowhere to be found throughout all of these visits, probably being cared for by grandmother Doria Ragland or a caregiver back home in Montecito, California.
Parenting expert Brenda Hart, in a talk with Express UK, emphasized the need for a "balanced family life" is critical, and while children are incredibly adaptive, quality time with their parents is essential for them to strengthen their ties. “Children are adaptable and if they need to be looked after by their nanny they will accept this. However, if they are to have a well balanced family life they will still need to see their parents as regularly as possible,” she told the publication.
"It is the same for Harry and Meghan, balancing work with family life like any other working mum. Holidays are usually times when the family spend time together and do some new and exciting activities. It is important parents holiday with their children as this gives them memories and happy times to reflect and enjoy together which strengthens their relationship with their child,” Brenda went on.
The parenting expert also mentioned Kate Middleton and Prince William. She said the future King and Queen of Britain need to "be there as parents and oversee that their children's emotional needs are met.”
Commitments such as the Invictus Games and other royal engagements necessitate Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Prince William spending time away from their children, as a careful balancing act between their professional and personal lives must be struck. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex allegedly spent their time in Canouan to "figure out a plan moving forward" as they began their comeback to public life following their first in-person Archewell Foundation meeting for World Mental Health Day earlier this month.
Prince Harry ‘Desperate’ to Keep ‘Counsellor State’ Role
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have sparked speculation about whether they will snap up a second home in the United Kingdom. According to a Hollywood expert, the younger son of King Charles is eager to return to his former life after his social life has "notably shifted over the past decade."
Prince Harry has Meghan Markle "frustrated" about his conflicting views on their future location, according to entertainment analyst Mark Boardman, because the duke "longs" to see his estranged pals in London. Kinsey Schofield, a royal commentator, has subsequently shed further insight on the situation, questioning whether Harry's desire to have a house in the U.K. is related to his royal status.
"I do think Harry had a really hard time when the palace rejected his request to stay there during the WellChild awards but I wonder how much having a residence has to do with him wanting that counsellor of state role that a lot of people would like to see him lose,” Kinsey told Sky News Australia, per The Royal Observer.
"I also wonder, does it have anything to do with his visa because he's not an American citizen? Does he need to have a residence in the UK to maintain whatever it is he has in the US that they're so secretive about? Meghan has no desire to be in the UK, she feels rejected by them and she doesn't want to put herself in a position to be humiliated by them again the way they booed her in the past,” she went on.
After stepping down from royal duties and being financially independent, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry purchased a nine-bedroom mansion in Montecito for £11.32 million in 2020. However, royal expert Christine Ross believes there could be a reason behind the current reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may relocate to Malibu.
