FOX and series creator Paul Scheuring is still maintaining their silence about “Prison Break” Season 6 and what audiences can expect from the upcoming entry. Thus, most of the news surrounding the show comes from speculations stemming from hints provided by Scheuring himself.
One of the most likely stories that “Prison Break” Season 6 will tell is Michael (Wentworth Miller) shaking hands with the CIA. Since the fifth installment’s finale already hinted at this fact, it’s safe to assume that this narrative might be explored by the show.
After all, Scheuring did say that they’re trying to reinvent the crime drama while making sure they don’t stray too far away from its original premise. A shift to Michael going to prison to break someone out under the mandate of the CIA is indeed an interesting narrative to tell. If this proves to be true, then “Prison Break” Season 6 might also be looking to add Mahone (William Fichtner) into its roster.
As a former FBI agent himself and a good friend of Michael, it makes sense for Mahone to team up with the brilliant engineer to settle whatever tasks the CIA might have for them both. And given that they’ve worked together in the past, the duo already has their chemistry nailed down. So how will likely is it that Fichtner will return in “Prison Break” Season 6?
Well, according to Scheuring, the chances are between “50-150 percent.” “Prison Break” Season 6 would do well to add Fichtner into its lineup given that he’s become one of the most popular figures in the series throughout its run. Indeed, his absence in the fifth installment has been deemed by some as a mistake since Mahone is quite the compelling character.
Of course, all of these is banking on the speculation that “Prison Break” Season 6 will indeed have Michael work for the CIA. As for when the show might return, nothing has been confirmed on this end either. A 2020 release date appears to be the best at the moment given the silence surrounding the crime drama.
