“Red Dead Redemption 2” is a much-awaited release exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that, to many fans' dismay, has already been pushed back from its original release date, twice.

A prequel to Rockstar Games' 2010 best-selling open-world desperado game, “Red Dead Redemption 2” promises larger maps, better graphics, and even a battle-royale game mode. But considering the online component being teased as being more ambitious than the 16-player roundabouts in the first game, Rockstar Games has yet to open the anticipated multiplayer game mode to public testing.
Other games which rely on a solid multiplayer experience, such as “Call of Duty: Black Ops 4” or even “PUBG's” latest custom match feature, have already opened up with their open beta schedules. A solid multiplayer experience, which Rockstar has already promised they would deliver, takes time to tweak, and not looping in the community that will eventually play the game may spell an unsatisfying online experience when the game launches.
In addition, considering that Rockstar Games is looking into monetizing the online multiplayer experience, it can take some lessons from Electronic Arts' "Battlefront II" Beta, which allowed the game to pivot its monetization model before the badly received loot box situation became even worse.
Naysayers who would point out that the single-player experience is the bread and butter of the “Red Dead Redemption” games would do well to remember that the game's pre-order packages include gameplay boosts, cash bonuses, and discounts for the Special and Ultimate Editions of the game. With release barely three months away, Rockstar still has a chance to announce a quick beta experience for fans anticipating the multiplayer component.
But if they decide to push through without the beta, Rockstar may be pretty confident that “Red Dead Redemption 2's” multiplayer component will be on a level that their community will be satisfied with. Fans of “Red Dead Redemption 2” can expect the game to be released on Oct. 26.
