Cole Sprouse revealed on his Instagram account that he was arrested and zip-tied while attending a Black Lives Matter protest in Santa Monica, California.
According to the Entertainment News, while Cole and the others were in the protest, the police gave them an option to leave, or they would be arrested.
Cole said that when they did try to leave, another group of police officers blocked their way and started tying their hands with a zip tie.
While Sprouse said that he did not want to talk about his arrest because the whole thing was not about him, he shared his thoughts about racism and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.
He also made a list for his followers on how they can do their part and donate to the BLM movement.
Cole said that his arrest was nothing compared to the experience of those who are the subject of the movement and who experience racism on a constant basis.
He added that he hopes the media will not make the arrest all about him. He explained that he joined the demonstration to do the right thing and make a stand to end racism. He hopes others like him will lend their support as well.
The protests held in several big cities in the US were sparked by the senseless death of black American George Floyd of Minneapolis at the hands of a white police officer, Derek Chauvin.
While arresting Floyd for allegedly using a counterfeit $20 bill in buying cigarettes, Chauvin had forcibly pressed his knee to the back of Floyd's neck while the latter was on his stomach on the ground.
Chauvin had not listened to Floyd's complaints that he cannot breathe and eventually became unconscious and later died in the hospital.
Many other celebrities decried the incident with some of them like Cole joining protests. Others used their social media accounts to urge their followers to help end racism while others donated to cover for the bail of arrested protesters and other legal fees.
