South Korea recorded an average 5G download speed of 351.2 Mbps, to be hailed the fastest in the world, according to a report by industry tracker Opensignal.
Saudi Arabia was a distant second with 272.8 Mbps, followed by Taiwan at 247.7 Mbps.
Opensignal based its report on data collected between Sept. 1 and Nov. 29 in 15 global markets with 5G networks.
South Korea was the second fastest after Saudi Arabia from a previous report by Opensignal in October.
Meanwhile, South Korean 5G users placed third in time spent connected to the network at 24.6 percent, behind Kuwait at 29 percent and Saudi Arabia at 27.8 percent.
South Korea was the first to commercialize the 5G network in April last year and has racked up under 10 million users as of end-October, accounting for 14 percent of the country's 70 million mobile subscriptions.
However, the country has yet to commercialize the standalone version of 5G, with its network requiring support from 4G LTE.
The country's three major mobile carriers pledged to invest up to 25.7 trillion won until 2022 to establish nationwide 5G coverage and update network infrastructure.
