Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co (DHIC) has signed a deal with Korea Western Power Co. to build a US$2.4 billion hydropower plant in Laos under an engineering, procurement, and construction set up.
The 728-megawatt hydropower plant would be constructed in the middle Mekong River in Laos, with a completion date of 2029.
DHIC, South Korea's top power equipment maker, will provide key equipment and build the plant.
DHIC will use the plant project as a chance to make a foray into the overseas market of key equipment for hydropower plants, it said.
Korea Western Power, a leading power supplier, and DHIC recently collaborated to develop the world's first hybrid power generation technology linked to an energy storage system.
