Sam Heughan recently took to Twitter to assure fans of “Outlander” that the fifth installment will not disappoint. The Scottish actor hinted at this fact after reading the script of the next entry. And now that he’s been promoted as executive producer – along with Caitriona Balfe – this assurance carries much more weight, Express reported.
The recent finale saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) being tasked by Governor Tryon (Tim Downie) to track and kill his godfather Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix). Along with Claire (Caitriona Balfe), the Scottish soldier will have to find a way in “Outlander” Season 5 to protect Murtagh while appearing to follow the governor’s orders. Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar, the actor provided some insight as to what fans can expect in the fifth entry.
“By the end of the season you see, no matter how hard they try, they get pulled into it. It's really exciting for [‘Outlander’ Season 5] because it's going to set up that whole world and the different political sides with Murtagh... It's going to be tough. This is not the first time they've dealt with these things. And at first, Jamie thinks he can play it. He can play with fate and play with history, maybe to his detriment,” Sam Heughan said. The Scot also said that his relationship with Caitriona Balfe continues to evolve as their trust and understanding with each other grows each season.
Indeed, this bond can be observed with the pair’s banter over at social media. The most recent of this is Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe amicably mocking each other’s outfits when they attended an Oscars party. The actress fired the first shot when she made fun of her co-star's lopsided bowtie.
In response, Sam Heughan poked fun at Caitriona Balfe’s dress for having heart-shaped cut-outs on its midsection. Of course, fans of “Outlander” were having a field day at the exchange with some joining in on the banter.
