While Samsung tries to fight leaks, Amazon appears to have committed a major blunder after its Canadian website was spotted listing the entire lineup of the unannounced Galaxy Watch 4. Before the e-commerce giant could remove the products online, many found it to confirm that Samsung is implementing a change in the names of the wearable devices.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 design, specs, new name
Reports from the previous weeks have suggested that Samsung is ditching the “Active” branding in the Galaxy Watch 4 series, and the recent Amazon Canada leak, first spotted by WinFuture, appears to confirm it. Tech fans can still see the error in a Google cached version of the website.
Amazon Canada listed Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic that both have two models with different watch face sizes.
The device simply named Galaxy Watch 4 appears to take the place of the “Active” model as it comes with a sport design. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, on the other hand, offers a watch face that looks similar to the standard Galaxy Watch in previous years. The regular watch comes in 40mm and 44mm models with aluminum finishing, while the Classic versions were listed with 42mm and 46mm options with stainless steel housing.
Fans can also see that the Galaxy Watch 4 listing titles include the words “Google Wear,” suggesting it could be the official name of the unified WearOS and Tizen platform.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 release date, pricing
Thanks to the Amazon leak, Samsung fans now have a clearer idea of how much the Galaxy Watch 4 will cost. The 40mm regular Galaxy Watch 4 was listed for CAD309.85 (~USD248), while its 44mm counterpart had a CAD346.82 (~USD277) price tag. The 42mm Galaxy Watch 4 Classic costs $427.73 (~USD342), and the bigger model was priced at CAD463.88 (~USD371).
Amazon Canada also said that all Galaxy Watch 4 models “will be released on Aug. 27.” This likely refers to the devices’ retail launch, as Samsung is widely rumored to host its next Galaxy Unpacked presentation on Aug. 11. It remains to be seen if the other upcoming Samsung devices will also get an Aug. 27 release date.
