Samsung TV Plus announced the expansion of its sports content offering on Monday, July 31. The free streaming live TV and on-demand service said it has added FIFA+ to its exclusive channel lineup as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 begins.
With this expansion, users of Samsung TV Plus around the world will be able to access premium football content non-stop throughout the day and week. This was made possible through the partnership between Samsung and FIFA+.
The South Korean electronics and tech firm will now start providing more sports entertainment content during FIFA Women’s football matches. Moreover, the addition of the FIFA+ channel on Samsung TV Plus is also expected to give a boost to its free ad-supported streaming TV service (FAST). The company said its new offering is part of its move to continue its business growth.
“Samsung is delighted to be adding the FIFA+ channel to Samsung TV Plus, thereby expanding the roster of sports content available on Samsung TVs and Galaxy devices,” Samsung Electronics Europe’s head of business development, Richard Jakeman, said in a press release. “Launching globally with a rich lineup of curated FIFA+ content will add incredible value to our customers, and with the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 continuing, they’ll also be able to experience content that marks the next exciting chapter in the Women’s game.”
The European unit’s vice president and general manager, Alex Hole, also commented, “Collaborations like this are helping us transform the face of FAST. With the inclusion of live content from major sporting events, our TVs are turning into hubs of premium sports content, redefining our understanding of what FAST can offer.”
Finally, as per MediaWeek, aside from the live streaming of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, users of the FIFA+ FAST channel on Samsung TV Plus will also enjoy various content related to football such as original documentaries, exclusive footage, and highlights of the games from Men’s and Women’s matches. The channel will also feature the DAZN Women’s Football Channel, MAVTV Motorsports, The Rugby Network, and more.
