An official Samsung account has just revealed the Galaxy S24 series' debut date and the event's significant emphasis on "Galaxy AI."
Samsung Confirms Galaxy S24 Launch Date, Emphasizing AI
The next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on January 18, 2024, according to Samsung's Twitter/X account in Australia. The event begins at 5 a.m. local time, which corresponds to 10 a.m. PT. Surprisingly, the post has been live since December 27.
The video is brief but clearly conveys that Samsung is actively focused on AI, with the phrase "Galaxy AI is coming." According to SamMobile, the teaser was shared just to this account and was likely posted early in error, as Samsung generally makes this announcement across all of its accounts. Snapdragon or Exynos Chip Inside Samsung Galaxy S24
There has been enough official and unofficial material to provide a nearly full picture of how the Galaxy S24 series will deal with the Exynos and Snapdragon issues. If you're a Galaxy S23 owner seeking to upgrade, the Galaxy S24 series will see the return of the in-house Exynos chip.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 will not be a Snapdragon-exclusive series like the Galaxy S23 but will also not use the previous two-pronged chip formula. At least not completely.
Following the debut of the Galaxy S22 and the Exynos 2200 chip in 2022, Samsung waited an additional year to develop new silicon and did not release a high-end Exynos SoC in 2023. As a result, Snapdragon was added to the whole Galaxy S23 series.
Exynos is making a comeback, but according to recent speculations, the next Galaxy S24 Ultra will be the only model in the flagship series to use a Snapdragon chip throughout. The Ultra variant will not have an Exynos SoC, but the base and Plus models will.
Moreover, Exynos will be available in some regions, while Snapdragon will be available in others, as has been the case in the past. And, if the Galaxy S22 launch in 2022 is any indication, the upcoming Galaxy S24 and S24+ will share the Exynos and Snapdragon CPUs as follows:
-
The Exynos-powered Galaxy S24/S24+ will be available in Europe, the CIS, Southwest Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
-
The Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S24/S24+ will be available in China, Japan, Latin America, North America, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
The chips are officially referred to as the Exynos 2400 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. They both have improved performance over prior generations and sophisticated AI capabilities.
