In the most recent 3DMark Solar Bay Stress Test, the Exynos 2400 once again outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in terms of performance stability when running on the smaller Galaxy S24 Plus. In summary, Samsung's latest SoC outperforms Qualcomm's freshest and best technology.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Has Lower Performance Stability Than Exynos 2400
The Solar Bay Stress Test, like 3DMark's Wild Life Extreme, tests smartphone chipsets to their limits by throwing a variety of CPU and GPU-focused tasks at them.
According to the most recent comparison shared by Mochamad Farido Fanani, a test performed by Thai media outlet Beartai reveals that the Exynos 2400 was able to sustain its performance better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, throttling to only 64.6 percent of its actual capability, whereas the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 suffered greatly, nosediving to 48.3 percent in the same test.
These results are even more impressive when we consider that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was tested on the high-end Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is said to have a vapor chamber that is 190 percent larger than the one found in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Exynos 2400 Showcases Promising Performance and Heat Management in Latest Benchmark Tests
The Exynos 2400 made a good first impression in 3DMark's Wild Life Extreme Stress Test, scoring twice as high as the Exynos 2200 and performing similarly to Apple's A17 Pro, as per WCCFTech.
Though the Galaxy S24 Plus' cooling solution was critical in keeping the Exynos 2400's temperature under control, it is likely that Samsung's use of Fan-out Wafer Level Packaging technology (FOWLP) improves the new SoC's heat resistance, resulting in an increase in multi-core performance and thus better results in the most recent test.
With the Exynos 2400 coming out on top in two 3DMark scores, we may see gains in other tests as well, so while we are pleasantly impressed by what Samsung has achieved, its silicon is not yet done.
