Fans who have been asking Koei Tecmo to bring the dark and brutal action game Nioh to the PC just got their wish. The previously PS4-exclusive title will be available on Steam on November 7th with several neat little goodies thrown in. As a critically acclaimed video game that takes inspiration from the Dark Souls franchise, it will be amazing to see it in 4K resolution.
For those who are not familiar with the game, it’s basically set in Feudal Japan with a western protagonist caught up in one of the most intense Samurai/Fantasy storylines in video game history. It features brutal combat that players of Dark Souls games will find all too familiar. For the PC release, the game will come with all DLCs, 4K gameplay, and even a special helmet, Kotaku reports.
In a Tweet, the developers showed off a picture of a samurai helmet with a unique ornamentation. It’s basically a valve handle, which pays homage to the game’s impending release on Steam, which is owned by Valve.
“Celebrating #Nioh: Complete Edition on Steam, @TeamNINJAStudio is offering players a brand-new item, the Dharmachakra Kabuto helmet!” the Tweet reads.
Nioh director Fumihiko Yasuda also acknowledged the pleas of many PC gamers, who wanted the game to come to their preferred platform, Gamespot reports. While there has been no confirmation from Sony, many are speculating that the company paid for a nine-month exclusivity deal for the game, since it did just release back in February of this year.
"Team Ninja is well aware of the fact that many gamers have been passionately asking for a PC version of Nioh," Yasuda said. "I am thrilled to announce that this massocore game will finally be available for our die-hard PC fans in Nioh: Complete Edition! I hope you all enjoy the unforgettable drama and deeply challenging Yokai battles this action-packed experience has to offer."
