It may seem difficult to process for many TV viewers, but it would appear that the success of the show has made “Sherlock” Season 5 a difficult prospect to consider. Hitting the ground running has meant that maintaining the quality of the modern adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters was difficult. While someone close to the production did provide hope on the matter, it’s a fact that no one has officially confirmed anything yet.
In a recent development, the owner of the Speedy’s cafe that is featured in the series said that “Sherlock” Season 5 might be coming. This caused a flurry of activity on the web, with fans of the show utterly desperate to confirm if it was true or not. Unfortunately, the co-showrunner of the program Mark Gatiss shot it down, calling it “utter nonsense” on Twitter.

On the other hand, it’s not as if there is no interest from the showrunners to make “Sherlock” Season 5 happen. Co-showrunner Steven Moffat spoke to Digital Spy about this last year and revealed that he and Mark Gatiss hadn’t talked it over properly at that time. He did say that he always assumed that they would be returning to give the program another season.
As for the cast members, Benedict Cumberbatch who plays the irascible detective has said that he would love to become Sherlock Holmes once again. Unfortunately, it seems his co-star Martin Freeman who plays Holmes’ partner John Watson isn’t as keen for “Sherlock” Season 5.
Making the program had gotten to a point where it wasn’t enjoyable for “The Hobbit” star anymore, Metro notes. The pressure to deliver the same quality that viewers have come to expect from the show has simply made “Sherlock” Season 5 a seemingly impossible task. Unless everyone is on board, this show might just be fated only to have four seasons.
