Fortnite Battle Royale is known for having some of the quirkiest offerings and events despite having only been around for less than a year. Racking up over 40 million players around the globe, the developers recently launched a new mode for the game. Limiting players only to sniper rifles, this new feature should add some spice to a game that seems to constantly be evolving.
The developers made the announcement via its official Reddit page, stating that the new mode will be available for a limited time only. It starts today and will end on February 2nd, so fans who would like to make only those long-distance kill shots had best start moving.
It is worth noting that for close combat, players can use the revolver, as well. However, this will likely be the last resort since the whole point of the new mode is to take down enemies while aiming down the scope.
Other items for recovery, shield, and camouflage will still be available. Anyone who notices a bush that is moving suspiciously might want to keep an eye on it.
As PC Gamer points out, Fortnite Battle Royale’s wide, open fields are perfect for making those long shots with sniper rifles already. That’s why many veteran players choose to find a high ground after getting a high-powered rifle, and then just picking off the unfortunate noobs who are stumbling across the planes.
This is one of the biggest reasons why the game has become as popular as it is now. While many diehard fans of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds might accuse Battle Royale of copying the formula of their favorite game, there’s no doubt that Epic’s own offering is soaring.
The fact that the game is relatively fresh and has plenty of room for growth also makes it worth keeping an eye on. In contrast, PUBG developers have already confessed that they don’t really know what to do next.
