Several video game companies have already had their time at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 this week. But Sony did not fail to keep fans’ excitement up, thanks to a lot of highly anticipated titles exclusively being developed for its PlayStation system, including “Death Stranding,” “The Last of Us 2,” and “Spider-Man.”
“Death Stranding”
Sony’s E3 2018 briefing revealed more about “Death Stranding” by slowly expounding on what fans are allowed to learn about its plot as well as showing new characters and a gameplay sneak peek.
Similar to the game’s TGA 2017 teaser, its E3 2018 trailer introduced two new characters played by real-life actresses. First, the game features a character played by “The Grand Budapest Hotel” actress Lea Seydoux, who seems to have a tight relationship with Sam Bridges (Norman Reedus). Another woman, whose backstory appears to have more mystery, is played by “The Bionic Woman” lead star Lindsay Wagner.
In the trailer Sam tells Seydoux’s character that his job is to “make deliveries,” but for the most part, he is seen swimming across rivers, climbing mountains, and walking through devastated buildings.
Several scenes also previewed the kind of dark, weird monsters that players are likely to face in the “Death Stranding” gameplay. An invisible monster almost attacks Sam and Seydoux’s character, but luckily it does not seem to have a sense of sight and follows its prey by sound. In the latter part of the video, Sam uses a device to detect and sneak through a land filled with shadow creatures.
Guillermo del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen also star in the game.
“The Last of Us 2”
Sony also revealed a longer gameplay trailer (close to 12 minutes) for another much-awaited game, “The Last of Us 2.” Ellie is seen not enjoying a party in the beginning of the trailer, which shows two other characters, a friend named Jesse and her girlfriend Dina. With enough time to party, the events seem to have taken place before all the chaos in the first game began.
From the happy times of Ellie and Dina, the trailer abruptly shifts to a very gory scene where the main protagonist is seen repeatedly stabbing a man in his throat.
Halfway through, the trailer focuses on the gameplay. At one point, Ellie is seen stealthily crawling through the woods as she prepares to attack a group that is torturing a man. After being detected by the enemies, Ellie takes them one by one using an array of weapons like a hammer, a pistol, and a knife.
Both games are exclusive to the PlayStation 4 but their release dates are still unknown.
