‘Star Wars: Han Solo’ lead actor Alden Ehrenreich reportedly signed with Disney for three more films in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. It was speculated that he may appear as the young Han Solo in multiple ‘Star Wars’ films in the future.
According to IGN, an unnamed source for The New York Daily News revealed that Ehrenreich signed on with Disney for at least three more movies in the iconic ‘Star Wars’ franchise. It was speculated that the deal will allow the 26-year old actor to star in multiple films in the future.
Ehrenreich’s involvement in the upcoming installment in the ‘Star Wars’ anthology of films was officially announced during the Future Filmmaker panel at the Star Wars Celebration in London earlier this month. It was revealed that the audition process for the highly coveted role took six months with contenders screen testing in the Millennium Falcon. Ehrenreich also screen tested with Han Solo’s loyal partner Chewbacca.
It was reported that several thousand actors auditioned for the part of the young Han Solo, a character made famous by Harrison Ford since his introduction into the franchise in George Lucas’ 1977 film ‘Star Wars’. According to Express.co.uk, Jack Reynor of ‘Transformers’ and Taron Egerton of ‘Kingsman’ were also considered for the role at some point.
Ehrenreich is best known for his role as Hobie Doyle in the Coen Brothers’ comedy film ‘Hail, Caesar!’. He also appeared in films such as 2013’s ‘Beautiful Creatures’, ‘Stoker’, and ‘Blue Jasmine’. He is set to portray Warren Beatty in the upcoming romantic comedy and drama film ‘Rules Don’t Apply’ and will star in Alexander Moors’ new war film ‘The Yellow Birds’.
‘Star Wars: Han Solo’ is a yet untitled action and science-fiction film scheduled to be released on May 25, 2018. It is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written for the big screen by Jon Kasdan and Lawrence Kasdan.
It is produced by Kathleen Kennedy with Will Allegra co-producing. Jason D. McGatlin will be executive producing together with Lawrence Kasdan. The film will tell Han Solo’s origin story and is expected to begin filming on January 2017.
