Starbucks has announced the launch of the "Trenta," a super-sized 31-ounce beverage option, exclusively in South Korea. Available from July 20 to September 30, this move celebrates Starbucks' 24th year in the country and is a response to customer requests.
Starbucks Korea said on Wednesday, July 12, that it would offer the new "Trenta" size beverage between July 20 and Sept. 30. This will be released for three popular drinks to mark the coffee chain's 24th year anniversary since opening its stores in the country.
As per The Korea Herald, customers can buy the Trenta size at Starbucks via "to go" orders only at select store outlets in Korea. The beverages that can be ordered for this super size include the Starbucks Cold Brew, Strawberry Acai Starbucks Refreshers, and Iced Grapefruit Honey Black Tea beverage.
Before being offered in the country, the Trenta size was only available in North American stores. Its arrival in Korea marks the first time it was brought to the Asia-Pacific region. The company may also add this large size in other Asian locations in the near future.
In any case, "trenta" is an Italian word that means 30, and the company chose this name to refer to the large 30-ounce size capacity (887 milliliters) that it is offering. Typically, the regular beverage sizes that are sold at Starbucks are tall (335 ml), grande (473 ml), and venti (591 ml).
In a press release, Starbucks Korea stated, "The 'Trenta' size is launched in response to the steady requests of Korean customers who have experienced the size at Starbucks North America. In addition, in commemoration of Starbucks Korea's 24th anniversary, it is expected to provide another pleasure to customers visiting Starbucks through popular drinks this summer."
