Starbucks Introduces Limited-Edition Frappuccinos and Unicorn Cake in China, Captivating Customers with Delightful Treats
Starbucks has a reputation for introducing delightful and adorable menu items in Japan, but it’s not the only country enjoying this luxury. In China, consumers are also savoring a new series of limited-edition cakes and Frappuccinos.
During a recent trip to China, reporter Ikuna Kamezawa encountered this new range. A massive sign advertising the Strawberry Coconut Frappuccino immediately captivated her.
SoraNews24 reported that the chain currently offers two limited-edition Frappuccinos: Strawberry Coconut and Belgian Chocolate. Unlike in Japan, where Frappuccinos are only sold in tall sizes, they are available in medium, large, and extra-large sizes in China. The medium size is priced at 38 yuan (826 yen or US$5.23), slightly higher than Japan's typical price of approximately 678 yen.
Frappuccinos aren’t the only treats available; the desserts in the display case are equally tempting. Ikuna chose the pink unicorn taro from yogurt, plum, and taro options.
Starbucks' Strawberry Coconut Frappuccino and Childhood Taro Cake Delight Customers with Exquisite Flavors in China
The Strawberry Coconut Frappuccino paired perfectly with the "Childhood Taro Cake" (36 yuan). Ikuna found it almost too beautiful to eat. She turned the unicorn’s face away as she scooped out a spoonful from the side.
The cake’s sponge and cream were sweetened by taro puree, and Ikuna suspected that the slightly coarse texture might come from Nata de Coco, a coconut gel. The unicorn’s decorations added diverse flavors, enhancing the overall sourness.
The Frappuccino was equally delightful, featuring an exquisite pink and white contrast with bursts of fruit and whipped cream. Ikuna was so impressed that she returned the next day to try the Belgian Chocolate Frappuccino, which she found even more indulgent and decadent, especially with the addition of strawberry jelly pieces.
Ikuna was amazed by the quality, flavor, and appearance of all the items she tried at Starbucks in China, leading her to admire the chain’s ability to uphold its standards globally. Now, she is eager to visit Starbucks' other renowned international locations, as she found the experience in China just as enjoyable as in Japan.
