With each passing year, the global technology event CES is becoming bigger and better. The Eureka Park Marketplace returns to CES 2016 for its fifth year with 500 companies, up from 375 in 2015. Owned and produced by Consumer Technology Association (CTA), CES (Consumer Electronic Show) is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology.
As the show and its participants expanded over the years, it outgrew the Las Vegas Convention Center and started using part of the Sands Expo Center, which is called Eureka Park.
This year, the event will feature latest innovations from 500 startup companies from 29 countries, with more than 50 percent of exhibitors coming from outside the U.S. New countries represented in Eureka Park in 2016 include Austria, Czech Republic, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, Taiwan, Turkey, and UAE. At the show, Eureka Park is segmented by specific verticals such as wearables, smart home, health and sports tech, 3D printing, audio and video and virtual reality.
“We are in the middle of a revolutionary wave of innovation where game-changing ideas are springing up from small companies and entrepreneurs all over the world,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Technology Association. “We are proud to host some of the most brilliant minds in emerging technology at Eureka Park. We continue to be wowed by the success stories coming from these innovative startups as they present potentially game-changing concepts and prototypes to an eco-system on the CES show floor designed to help these startups grow and thrive.”
TechCrunch offers a sneak-peak into the event. Matt Burns, senior editor at TechCrunch, reported that a quick glance at the Sands Expo Center exhibitors reveals that several startups are getting small booths this year, including Atlas Wearable, Blocks and Double Robotics, Ring and Roost, Withings and Fitbit.
Burns said that 3D Systems has a large booth, but is surrounded by smaller 3D printing companies such as Formlabs, MarkForged, and Voxel8.
“There’s now halls filled with rows and rows of startups barely out of crowdfunding vying for buyers and suppliers and the press to take notice”, Burns added.
In addition, nearly 27 organizations are expected to showcase their drones at the event. Of these, Tech News Today points out three drone start-ups to look out for – Chinese drone manufacturing company and inventor of Phantom, DJI; Lily Robotics and GoPro.
Since its inception in 2012, more than 1,100 start ups have exhibited in Eureka Park, with at least 100 of these funded at $1 million or more.
CES 2016 will run January 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, NV, and will feature over 3,600 exhibitors unveiling the latest consumer technology products and services across the entire ecosystem of consumer technologies.
