“Steven Universe” Season 5 is about to see the appearance of White Diamond after five seasons of referencing her. As the ruler of the Gem homeworld, this figure is obviously a major force on the show. This is why this season of the Cartoon Network program is going to feature some more mature themes, with the dramatic elements getting cranked up to 11. The end could also be near.
There have been plenty of shocking developments in “Steven Universe” this season, with relationships getting tested and the truth about Rose Quartz getting revealed. Now that there is a movie on its way, the curtain could soon be dropping for this cartoon hit by Rebecca Sugar, CBR.com reports.
It’s worth pointing out that although White Diamond is only now making an appearance in “Steven Universe,” the ruler has been a major presence on the show since the start. As one of the original quartet, which includes Blue, Yellow, and originally, Pink, White aims for unquestioned rule through her realm.
When Rose Quartz rose up in rebellion, it was the only obstacle that the four had ever known. Naturally, the response was not kind, what with each Diamond ruler having their own specialty. Before the appearance of White, the only ones to have been clearly depicted were Yellow, Pink, and Blue. Before Season 5 of “Steven Universe,” White’s shape had always been ambiguous. This isn’t the case anymore.
Her appearance also marks one of the biggest turning points on the show. While Blue and Yellow were objectively powerful foes for the main characters, White appears to be the strongest of them all, Gizmodo U.K. notes. As such, she’ll likely be the biggest and last boss in “Steven Universe.”
With regards to “Steven Universe: The Movie,” the animated feature is likely to mark the end of the franchise. Unless the creators manage to reveal yet another powerful force to overtake White Diamond, it’s possible that “Steven Universe” is nearing its end.
