“Steven Universe” season 6 is over, and now fans are asking what is next. Will there be a season 7 or “Steven Universe Future” season 2? There is no word from Rebecca Sugar or Cartoon Network, yet, so the waiting game for updates begins.
Season 6’s finale details
“Steven Universe” season 6 ended with the final episodes 9 and 10 titled “Little Graduation” and “Prickly Pair.” The two stories aired on Dec. 28, and fans saw the graduation scene on Steven’s Little Homeschool.
Moreover, the viewers witnessed how Steven got hooked with a new hobby, which is apparently good for him. The teen protagonist learned how to grow plants and realized that he is enjoying it. With this event, Steven has really grown up as he is now more interested in doing what the grown-ups do.
Will “Steven Universe” season 7 be renewed?
It should be noted that “Steven Universe” season 6, a.k.a. “Steven Universe Future” is an epilogue, and this was already explained prior to its release. This means that the sixth installment of the series was not designed to offer a new story, but rather, it was produced to tie the loose ends left by the previous seasons.
It was meant to give answers and ending to some scenarios that were not addressed before. In fact, “Steven Universe” season 5 finale called “Change Your Mind,” left many questions like what will happen next that Steven found out he is a pink gem and how he feels about his mother’s bad deeds in the past. “Steven Universe Future” clarified these things, so fans already know everything.
Now, since the previous chapter was an epilogue, The Cinemaholic opined that it could be said that “Steven Universe Future” season 2 is not happening anymore. Since season 1 already did its purpose of tying up loose ends, there is no need for a new season. However, there is a big chance that “Steven Universe” season 7 will happen since there are still lots of angles and stories that can be created as the protagonist is transforming to young adulthood.
