“Stranger Things” season 4 is coming to Netflix, and executive producer Shawn Levy confirmed that the drama is underway. Although the streaming site has yet to make an official announcement, the EP said that the fourth installment of the series is definitely returning.
While it is good news that fans will still see “Stranger Things” season 4, the bad news is that it could be the last. In an interview with creators Matt and Ross Duffer when the series debuted, they mentioned that their original plan is to make just four seasons.
The 4-year plan revealed
The show’s creators revealed that when they were still planning the series, they have already decided that they will go until the fourth season thus “Stranger Things” season 4 could be the last. They added that the characters would also have aged through the years so they have to adjust their story for every chapter and they think they can keep doing this just for four installments.
"We're thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out," Ross told Vulture. "We just have to keep adjusting the story, though I don't know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year," Matt added.
Plot
According to the Duffer Brothers, “Stranger Things,” season 4 will reveal more stories outside of Hawkins. They also accidentally revealed that Jim Hopper (David Harbour) who appeared to have died during the mall explosion in the third season is actually alive. He survived the blast
In a podcast, Matt Duffer said that they want Hopper to have a grim ending so he will probably return to fulfill this plotline prepared for him by the series creators. “We always talk about Empire Strikes Back – we always wanted to give him a darker ending,” Matt said while referring to Hopper’s character. “We always wanted to give him a Han Solo sacrifice moment.”
Who will be back?
“Stranger Things” season 4 will return with the popular stars who made their names known through this thriller drama. Expect to see Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike),
Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Noah Schnapp (Will), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Sadie Sink (Max),
Joe Keery (Steve), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Maya Hawke (Robin), Winona Ryder (Joyce), Priah Ferguson (Erica), Cara Buono (Karen) and Brett Gelman as Murray.
Release date
“Stranger Things” season 4 has no premiere date yet since the last season was only dropped on July 4. However, based on prediction, since the show usually airs in July or October, the next season could drop in October next year.
