‘Supergirl’ season 2 is scheduled to air on October but will be preceded by reruns of season 1 on The CW. The network promises big changes as well as brand new characters.
According to Superherohype, The CW will be broadcasting ‘Supergirl’ season 1 before it debuts season 2 on October 10. The television series following the adventures of the iconic DC heroine first premiered on CBS on October 2015 before being turned over to The CW.
Melissa Benoist returns to play the titular character for the incoming season. Kara Danvers a.k.a. Kara Zor-El / Supergirl is the daughter of Krytonian scientist Zor-El and his wife Alura. She was sent to Earth upon her home planet’s explosion in order to protect her younger cousin Kal-El a.k.a. Superman. She eventually placed with the Danvers family by an adult Kal-El.
Benoist is joined by Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Jenna Dewan Tatum as Lois’ Lane’s sister Lucy, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow “Winn” Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, and Peter Facinelli as Maxwell Lord. Season 2 will also feature former Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter as the President of the United States and Tyler Hoechlin as Superman.
Notably, Benoist’s Kara will also meet Lex Luthor’s younger sister Lena as reported by Screen Crush. Lena Luthor first appeared in the comic book ‘Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #23’. She is known to possess the power of telepathy after exposure to Space Brain, Lex’s experimental project before he became a full-fledged villain.
Meanwhile, season 2’s premiere is officially titled “The Adventures of Supergirl” and is scheduled to make it’s The CW debut on October 10, 2016.
‘Supergirl’ is an action-adventure and science-fiction television series developed by Ali Adler, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg. It is produced by Michael Grassi, Ted Sullivan, Larry Teng, and Michael Cedar.
Since the show’s small screen debut, it received generally positive reviews from critics and fans alike. It’s premiere currently holds a 97% fresh rating on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
