It’s a well-established fact by now that Katie Holmes is quite protective of Suri Cruise. Even on her Instagram account, it’s rare for the “Dawson Creek” alum to post pictures of her 12-year-old.
In recent weeks, however, that pattern has been broken as Katie Holmes recently posted a photo of Suri Cruise admiring the snow-covered slope of a slope along with another young teen. And four days ago, the “Batman Begins” uploaded yet another image of her daughter where the 12-year-old can be seen smiling and laughing as she played with a child, PEOPLE reported.
The snap has apparently been taken during their trip at a refugee camp in Lesbos, Greece. Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise went with the Artolution organization, a movement that seeks to help displaced families from Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. Artolution aims to help children go through harrowing times and facilitate the healing process by having them express their emotion through arts and murals.
And while Katie Holmes wants to extend her hand to those in need, this trip is also for the benefit of Suri Cruise. It’s already been reported that the actress wishes to instill good values to the 12-year-old by having her exposed to the real world and developing empathy for the unfortunate.
What’s more, the “First Daughter” star also wants to surround Suri Cruise with people that are making a significant change in the world. In a different photo uploaded by Tom Cruise’s ex-wife, the mother-daughter duo can be seen posing with Artolution founder Max Frieder and several other individuals outside of the Moira camp.
Apart from interacting with children, however, Katie Holmes has also lent her ears to the women in the camp who are also in the process of healing. “I am so grateful for this experience of working with and getting to know these incredible women in #moriarefugeecamp their hearts are so kind,” Suri Cruise’s mom captioned one of her posts.
