A new Tesla Cybertruck owner has disclosed that the vehicle's Core Wheels have significantly improved range performance, with the electric truck covering up to 400 miles per charge.
Tesla Cybertruck Owner Shares 370-Mile Range With Core Wheels
A new owner of a Tesla Cybertruck—an electric vehicle (EV) notable for its aero wheel covers and revolutionary Core Wheels—revealed the car's insanely efficient driving characteristics, Teslarati shares.
Posting images of the freshly delivered Cybertruck on Friday, member MadMaxTX informed the Cybertruck Owners Club site that the trip home produced 304 wH/mile, which is equivalent to around 370 miles of total range. According to the user's consumption data, the second drive had a range of around 400 miles, or 285 wH/mile.
“Driving home, consumption was 304 wh/mile! This is around 370 miles on a full charge, mixed city driving, about half freeways,” according to the user. “Next trip, streets only, light traffic, 97 degrees, BTW, and 285 wh/mile which works out to about 400 miles range.”
Additionally, the driver wondered if this was typical for the Tesla Cybertruck or if the first few rides were just a coincidence.
The user's shot clearly shows that the new Core Wheels are equipped with Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires. These tires were designed exclusively for the Cybertruck and include the term "CYBRTRK" printed on their outer walls. Core Wheels, an improved version of Tesla's standard Cyber wheels used on the dual-motor setup, were introduced this week by the electric vehicle manufacturer.
Core Wheels Enhance Tesla Cybertruck's Efficiency
The three-motor Cyberbeast setup has a range estimate of up to 301 miles, according to Tesla's website, while the two-motor AWD model has an estimated range of roughly 318 miles. According to Tesla, the total range can be increased to almost 340 miles when the optional AWD configuration is used in conjunction with the Core Wheels.
Tesla's Core Wheels More Efficient Than All-Terrain Tires
In addition to confirming what we already knew, Tesla Cybertruck Lead Engineer Wes Morrill pointed out that the Core Wheels' all-season tires are more fuel efficient than the Cyber Wheels' all-terrain tires. In his review of the Core Wheels, Morrill praises the tires, writing, "custom construction which balances handling and efficiency while also reducing road noise."
In subsequent replies to ongoing discussions in the X thread, he elaborated on the topic of all-terrain vs. all-season tires:
Some cybertrucks have been seen out and about lately with the new Core Wheels and coverings, and one of them even has the much-anticipated lightbar. As the first Cybertruck sales outside of the US occurred in Canada, Tesla also started providing demo drives at some US and Canadian locations following the EV's introduction in the latter country.
