The Irvine Police Department has introduced a Tesla Cybertruck featuring advanced UP.FIT upgrades into its patrol fleet, offering a futuristic approach to law enforcement with increased efficiency and cutting-edge technology.
Tesla Cybertruck Joins Irvine Police Fleet
One of the police departments in California's Irvine has added a Tesla Cybertruck to its lineup. As per Teslarati's reporting, the police force is anticipated to utilize the car as part of its Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) unit.
Sergeant Karie Davies informed Forbes that Irvine's fleet funds were used to pay for the Cybertruck, including the $119,000 cost of a Cyberbeast Foundation Series unit and the UP.FIT police upgrades from Unplugged Performance, a Tesla tuning firm, Irvine's Cybertruck cost over $150,000, as mentioned in the newspaper.
Cybertruck to Star at Community Events
Davies also brought up the possibility of showcasing the department's DARE activities using the Cybertruck. "It’s something we can highlight at our events (where) kids can come and take pictures," Davies said.
After getting the UP.FIT treatment from Unplugged Performance, the Cyberbeast used by the Irvine Police Department could easily fill in for a standard patrol vehicle. After all, the Cybertruck can hold its own against similarly equipped combustion-powered patrol vehicles because to its massive 123 kWh battery.
Police departments may now easily manage their electric vehicle fleets thanks to a recent partnership between UP.FIT and the fleet management platform Standard Fleet.
Greenfield Police Add Tesla to Their Lineup
Police departments in other cities also make use of Cybertrucks, not just Irvine. A number of Teslas were added to the fleet in July by the California Greenfield Police Department.
A Cybertruck, which has also received upgrades from UP.FIT, is one of them. The Cybertruck currently serves as a member of the luxury patrol fleet of the Dubai tourist police throughout the city.
Partially because they are capable cars that are extremely inexpensive to run, Teslas are beginning to become the preferred vehicles of police forces.
Teslas Offer Major Savings for Police Forces
The South Pasadena Police Department argues that, as compared to their combustion-powered competitors, Teslas offer significant operational and maintenance savings, making them the ideal police cars. The department's fleet consists of Model Y vehicles.
“Tesla was not only a viable option, but it was the best option. We got a much better performing car that costs significantly less to maintain and fuel. Our admin fleet in the first year had absolutely no maintenance associated with it,” the South Pasadena PD observed.
