The renewable energy race is here and with regards to the auto industry, Tesla is having a considerable effect simply because of its proximity. With the launch of the Model 3, for example, older electric vehicles are getting unbelievable price cuts in certain areas. Depending on the location, for example, costs are down by $20,000.
One of the biggest complaints against EVs is that they are expensive compared to gas cars. While this is still true in many regards, there are now ways to get electric cars for cheap. Take the Nissan LEAF, for example, which now costs only $13,000 in several US states, Electrek reports.
Although considerably less fancy than anything that Tesla has to offer, this nifty compact car from Nissan is still a great choice for anyone who wants to keep things clean on the streets. This is especially true now, thanks to the company’s collaboration with several non-profit organizations and energy companies.
In Florida, there’s the NextEra Energy firm, which is offering up to $17,500 in incentives to get the vehicle. There’s also Duke Energy, which operates in several states and offers the incentive to customers who might like to upgrade to an electric vehicle.
Aside from the LEAF, there are also deals involving BMW i3s in San Diego, Futurism reports. These shave as much as $10,000 from the costs of one of the most highly praised luxury electric vehicles in the world. The i3 is so good, in fact, that police forces are even using them.
For those living in California, the $2,500 rebate is on the table and there’s also the $7,500 federal tax credit to take into consideration. Unless customers live in states that have substantially hostile attitudes towards electric vehicles or just tax incentives, getting a Nissan LEAF or a BMW i3 has never been more affordable.
