Model Y, an electric crossover vehicle, is Tesla’s latest vehicle released in North America. However, its deliveries and test drives were disrupted as cases of COVID-19 worsened in the region. The good news is those days are over as various proofs online show Tesla is now accepting reservations or appointments to test drive the Model Y while maintaining social distancing.
Tesla Model Y touchless test drive: How to set schedule
The initial batch of Tesla Model Y deliveries began in mid-March after several customers shared email confirmations on social media. Since the health crisis was starting to escalate in the United States at the time, Tesla started a new protocol in bringing the vehicles to their owners called touchless delivery.
A similar protocol has been applied for customers wanting to test drive a Tesla vehicle, and it is also now available for the Model Y. The Twitter page Tesletter shared an email from Tesla’s Walnut Creek, California showroom informing them that the location is now accepting appointments for test drives for the next deliveries of “all vehicles.”

Teslarati later confirmed that the Model Y has been listed, along with Model S, Model 3, and Model X, on Tesla’s Touchless Test Drive page. Interested customers can visit the website to set an appointment, but not that a driver’s license will be required. The page will ask for basic information including name, contact number, email, and ZIP code to determine the nearest showroom that can accommodate the test drive request.
A video posted on the YouTube channel Get In2uit with Christine suggested that she was able to experience the Model Y touchless test drive by chance in her area. But with the Model Y now included in the test drive scheduling page, the vehicle will likely be more accessible in more showrooms in the United States from this point.
Tesla Model Y specs, price
One of the things that make the Model Y unique from other Tesla vehicles is the utility aspect of it designed to accommodate up to seven adult passengers. Drivers have the option to also make the third-row seating a space for their cargo. It has a 316-mile range and advertised to recharge up to 158 miles in 15 minutes.
Tesla Model Y’s price starts at $52,990 for the Long Range model and $60,990 for the Performance vehicle. A Standard Range will be released at a later time with its production slated to start in early 2021.
