Tesla's 'We, Robot' Invitations Sent for October 10 Event

On Wednesday, shortly after 5 p.m. EDT, Tesla began sending out invitations with the headline "We, Robot." In around two weeks, the company will showcase its platform for fully autonomous vehicles.

Robotaxi Event Postponed After August 8 Design Revisions

The planned date of the event was August 8, but CEO Elon Musk asked Tesla to revise the vehicle's design, so the event was postponed. He also mentioned wanting to flaunt a couple of other items.

Space is restricted, and Tesla states that attendees must be 21 years old.

Experts Share Insights on Tesla's Robotaxi Strategy

The following are the opinions of several experts on the Robotaxi Event that Teslarati has shared:

What did Wedbush's Dan Ives say?

“While the knee-jerk reaction will clearly be negative on a delay of August 8th based on this report that just hit, we believe the timing of robotaxis, partnerships, and the ultimate autonomous and AI-driven technology does not change at all for our bullish Tesla thesis. To some extent, we believe this 2-month delay could just make the actual Robotaxi event and prototypes even better.”

Analysts Weigh in on Tesla’s Robotaxi Plans

According to Mark Delaney from Goldman Sachs:

“Whether Tesla provides more details or unveils the new lower-cost model at the 10/10 event has also been a frequent topic in our investor discussions.”

Speculation Surrounds Potential New Model Announcement

The leader of Baird, Ben Kallo, stated:

“We see the launch of a lower-priced vehicle as a positive for volume estimates in 2025, however, we note that switching production to enable a new vehicle would likely come with some factory downtime, which may create lumpiness in deliveries.”

High Expectations for Tesla’s Fully Autonomous Technology

According to Adam Jonas of Morgan Stanley,

“Heading into Tesla’s 10/10 robotaxi event, we are, frankly, struggling to see how the day can live up to investors’ high expectations. Other than demonstrating FSD v12.5 and offering rides in a Gen 1 ‘Cybertcab,’ what else is in store?”
