There is no doubt that “The Curse of Oak Island" season 7 is happening. However, the bigger question is whether or not the series will continue after its seventh installment.
The main goal of the series was made clear from the beginning: find the Money Pit. Rick Lagina, Marty Lagina, and their team have not achieved that yet. But the entire season 6 seemed to have suggested they could be getting closer to solving the centuries-old mystery. Therefore, the events to unfold in “The Curse of Oak Island" season 7 can really determine the future of the series.
Some reports consider the possibility that a major breakthrough could be the highlight of “The Curse of Oak Island" season 7. That could be as big as finding a clear path to the Money Pit. Once that happens, there is a chance for the series to end after more than half a decade on air.
Meanwhile, it is also obvious that the series is one of the most watched shows on History. In fact, season 6 became the longest installment ever with 22 episodes and 14 specials. Season 6 also finished strong in terms of ratings and viewership. With that, “The Curse of Oak Island" season 7 is certainly happening this year.
One of the early confirmations that “The Curse of Oak Island" season 7 is happening came from Matty Blake, who hosts the companion series "Drilling Down." A special episode titled "Legacy" officially ended the sixth season where Blake said, "During the past six years Rick and Marty have found some amazing pieces to this enormous puzzle, and they’ve explored many compelling theories. But as far as Oak Island team is concerned, they’re just getting started. Get ready for Season 7!”
The fact that the cast unearthed some very interesting items and discovered pathways that seem to confirm they are closer to the Money Pit permit another installment. These developments are certainly going to be revisited in “The Curse of Oak Island" season 7 as their operations continue this year. The show will most likely maintain a November release date.
