“The Elder Scrolls 6” is one of the most anticipated games by the gaming community despite the title years from being released. One of the major reasons for this is due to the success that “Skyrim” brought in.
Vast, immersive, and highly addicting, “Skyrim” is arguably the best game that Bethesda has created, leading to high expectations about “The Elder Scrolls 6.” Add the fact that Bethesda director Todd Howard said that their technological vision for the game is unlike anything that’s been seen before and it’s understandable why millions of people are eager to get its hands on the title.
Howard’s ambitious goal isn’t surprising since the gaming world is currently transforming into its new form. Computer hardware is becoming more advanced and with it opens up possibilities what sort of breakthrough titles like “The Elder Scrolls 6” can achieve.
The Elder Scrolls 6 and the loyalty meter
But every gamer knows that it’s not just graphics that make a game stand out, a riveting narrative is also needed, especially for RPG games. “The Last of Us,” “Witcher 3,” and “Dragon Age” are just some of the many examples that can be cited, titles that “The Elder Scrolls 6” can greatly benefit from, TechRadar reported.
While “Skyrim” was a great game, its story isn’t as gripping as those mentioned above. The civil war plotline was uninspired, and the companions simply didn’t have the backstories that would warrant a player to be emotionally invested in them. Lydia, for instance, is only remembered for her one line. “The Elder Scrolls 6” could turn this around by writing engaging stories for important NPCs and giving them some depth in the form of, say, a loyalty meter system.
As an example, doing quests with a companion could reward the player with a backstory that sheds light as to who they are and why they do the things they do. With the “The Elder Scrolls 6” adding Grandma Shirley into the system, it’s imperative that the writing for the game is on point since a lot of players are hoping that Bethesda will weave a memorable narrative for the charming old lady.
Information drought on The Elder Scrolls 6 expected to persist
It’s still unclear what sort of role Shirley will play in the game since the studio is keeping everything close to its chest. In any case, “The Elder Scrolls 6” is years away, and the information drought surrounding it will likely persist in the next four years.
This is doubly true since Howard said that they’re going to be keeping everything under wraps months before the game launches. “The Elder Scrolls 6” is expected to arrive in 2024 or 2025.
