As one of the most highly anticipated exclusive titles coming to the PlayStation 4, The Last Of Us Part II has its fair share of excitable fans salivating at every chance to get more information about the game. During this year’s PlayStation Paris Games Week, Naughty Dog released a new trailer for the game and it is brutal.
As GameSpot notes, TLOU Part II still has no release date, which is driving fans nuts in anticipation. To tide them over, the developers released a new video featuring new characters caught in a decidedly unfortunate situation. The clip is grim, gruesome, and grueling, which is parts and parcel of the world of the game.
The video shows a young woman about to be hanged, followed by a scene involving someone breaking an arm, then arrows to the neck, and lots of blood spilled before Clickers make their appearance. The whole thing is fairly mysterious, which maintains the game’s mystique while generating interest.
What really makes the trailer interesting, apart from the new characters themselves, is how details about the lives of other survivors are shown. In particular, the part about a cult playing the role of potential antagonists, what with words like “apostates” being thrown around is quite intriguing.
Ever since the first trailer was released where a grown-up Ellie was shown surrounded by dead bodies and swearing vengeance, fans have wondered what anyone could have done to anger her so much. Now, gamers have more clues to work with. What could be more fitting to direct one’s rage at than fanatics who would commit unspeakable acts?
Some fans are even coming up with their own theories as to what the trailer signifies. There are those who believe that the woman is actually Ellie’s mom, Comicbook.com reports. If so, there could be some flashbacks involved in the game.
