The available teasers for “The Orville” season 2 episode 8 hints at imminent danger Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) and his crew will face in the two-part arc called “Identity.” While the protagonists will most likely come out safe from this exploration, they might uncover some secrets that could affect the course of the series.
At the moment, the only teasers available for “The Orville” season 2 episode 8 are a 30-second promo video and a collection of scene photos from Fox. The trailer opens with Lt. Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) quite worried because they are a “long way from home.” But Capt. Mercer seems resolved to land at the foreign place characterized by pointy buildings that are so tall they are literally touching the clouds.
However, even before they make their landing, Lt. Commander John LaMarr (J. Lee) reports that they are being scanned, presumably by the residents of the place. At this point, the “The Orville” season 2 episode 8 teaser says that some secrets are better off hidden. Considering that the two-part arc is titled “Identity” this could be pertaining to the backstory of one of the main characters.
Meanwhile, the “The Orville” season 2 episode 8 teaser photos (via ScienceFiction.com) hints that Isaac (Mark Jackson) might be having some issues. In several images, he is seen laying on an examination table as Dr. Claire Finn (Penny Johnson Jerald) checks on him. But it would appear that he will get better later in the episode just in time for him to revisit a very family place in the second half of the arc.
Fox might not release an official synopsis for “The Orville” season 2 episode 8 but the summary of “Identity, Part 2” a.k.a. episode 9 is already out. It confirms that Capt. Mercer and his crew will continue their quest by traveling to Kaylon — the home planet of Isaac.
This offers the possibility that the title “Identity” would primarily be linked to Isaac's backstory. “The Orville” season 2 episode 8 will air on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox. “Identity, Part 2” will be released on the following Thursday at the same time and network.
