“The Winds of Winter” is long overdue but there could be some good news for fans after waiting for so long. It was reported that George R.R. Martin’s sixth novel is complete now and ready for release.
The speculations regarding the publishing date for “The Winds of Winter” have been going on for quite a while now but Martin never really addressed them, so fans and book watchers just continue to assume. It has been seven years since the fifth book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, “A Dance with Dragons,” was published so no one can really blame the fans for clamoring for the release of the next chapter.
Although George R.R. Martin has not really confirmed anything, theorists believe that the popular American author is done with “The Winds of Winter.” However, he has been delaying its release for some reasons.
So what are the reasons for the delay? According to Express, the latest claim regarding this is that Martin will be finishing the seventh book, entitled “A Dream of Spring,” first before publishing “TWOW.”
The author is said to be purposely withholding “The Winds of Winter” so he can continue to refine and polish the next book after the sixth part of the “A Song of Ice” series. To explain this, since the book is still in his hands, then it would be easier to make changes for the two novels since the seventh and final book is the continuation of the story.
Now, for fans who have been expecting “The Winds of Winter” to be out on the market this year, there is no hope for that since George R.R. Martin himself confirmed that it is not coming out this year. In his own blog, he announced, “No, winter is not coming… not in 2018, at least. You’re going to have to keep waiting for THE WINDS OF WINTER.”
Meanwhile, “The Winds of Winter” is likely to be published in spring of 2020. And if the seventh book has also been completed at this time, fans would no longer have to wait too long again for the book series’s finale since it will surely follow soon after “TWOW” is released.
