The Witcher fans were treated to a big news when the show's official Twitter account made an announcement of when season 2 will resume filming, that is August 17.
Eversince Netflix released season 1 last December 2019, fans have been clamoring for news of season 2, most especially its release date.
However, the coronavirus pandemic ensured a longer wait for the fans after it halted pretty much everything in the world.
Release dates were pushed back after filming were halted middle of March including that of The Witcher season 2 which only started in late February.
According to Cinemablend, halting filming for season 2 was just in time because Kristofer Hivju, who joins The Witcher cast for the second season as Nivellen, became positive for the coronavirus.
When restrictions for film and TV productions were lifted early this month, fans were eager to learn when Henry Cavill and his castmates will return to the set in the United Kingdom.
Cavill plays the main character, Geralt of Rivia, who is of course a Witcher.
Thus, when the tweet announcing the date of when filming will resume was posted, fans got excited.
With nothing much going on in the film and TV industry because of the coronavirus pandemic, news like this is like heaven-sent for fans.
Despite its confusing timelines, The Witcher season 1 became one of Netflix's biggest hits with 76 million households watching the series, according to The Guardian.
Before the coronavirus struck, fans have been hoping to see season 2 in early 2021. However, with the interruption, it might be too much to hope for a middle of the year release date.
Resuming filming is easier said than done as productions would have to strictly follow precautionary measures to ensure that the health of everyone involved is secure. Nevertheless, to know that filming will be resuming is already a big assurance for the fans.
