U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he is committed to “buying and owning” Gaza, though parts of the war-torn region could be rebuilt by other Middle Eastern nations. Speaking aboard Air Force One en route to the Super Bowl, Trump emphasized preventing Hamas from returning, calling Gaza a "demolition site."

Trump suggested allowing some Palestinian refugees into the U.S. on a case-by-case basis. His remarks sparked condemnation from Hamas, with senior official Ezzat El Rashq stating, "Gaza is not for sale." The group vowed to resist any displacement efforts.

The controversial proposal has faced widespread international criticism, with Saudi Arabia and other nations rejecting the idea. Jordan’s King Abdullah, set to meet Trump on February 11, is expected to warn that the plan could destabilize the region. Trump is also expected to meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss the proposal.

Trump’s idea of transforming Gaza into a "Riviera of the Middle East" remains vague, with questions surrounding U.S. authority over the region. The White House has not responded to requests for comment.

As tensions rise, global leaders continue to push back against Trump's Gaza vision, warning of potential chaos in the Middle East.
