Just when you thought this year’s exhaustive election with all of its drama is over, it might not just be. Cries from Activists have become so louder over recounting, that it might actually happen in some of the key battleground states. Jill Stein, the Green party’s presidential candidate has raised more than $2 million and she is about to request a recount in three of the key battleground states; Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Stein’s move came amid growing calls for recounts or audits of the election results by groups of academics and activists concerned that foreign hackers may have interfered with election systems. The concerned groups have been urging Hillary Clinton, the defeated Democratic nominee, to join their cause. The groups have already talked to Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager John Podesta but the camp hasn’t announced anything officially.
US President-elect Donald Trump won Pennsylvania by 1.2 percent, won Wisconsin by 1 percent, and is leading to win Michigan. The margin of victory is small but when compared to pre-election polls; it is a landslide for Mr. Trump. In these states, he was reportedly trailing by five to six points. A reversal in the election result at any recount could lead to massive uncertainties in the United States. However, Donald Trump would need to lose all three states in question to lose the election. As of now, it is far from clear whether Hillary would challenge the result or not, but some sort of drama is surely on the way.
