Thorfinn is a self-proclaimed warrior, and it appears that anyone who duels with him agrees that he deserves the title. In “Vinland Saga” episode 9, he is going to meet Thorkell who will be impressed by his combat skills.
‘Vinland Saga’ episode 9 spoilers: Thorfinn duels with Thorkell
The previous episode ended with a brief teaser on Canute’s arrival. Meanwhile, the title for “Vinland Saga” episode 9 also confirms that the anime series will skip right into the siege of London or the famously known Battle of the London Bridge.
These teasers confirm that Thorfinn is going to meet Thorkell, who is with the English forces, and the two will fight in one-on-one combat much to Thorkell’s delight. He is a physically big man with immense strength. In the manga, Thorfinn realizes immediately how strong Thorkell is to the extent that one punch can kill him instantly. So “Vinland Saga” episode 9 should be another exciting installment.
Note that Thorkell has deep experience in battle was even a Jomsviking commander before coming to England. This means that Thorfinn has no chance of winning against him in “Vinland Saga” episode 9.
However, there is something more interesting about Thorkell and Thorfinn’s connection other than their duel. Though it is unlikely to be fully tackled in “Vinland Saga” episode 9, Thorkell was actually a close friend of Thor's and an in-law of Thorfinn.
‘Vinland Saga’ episode 9 plot, release date: Who is Canute?
Another highlight in the upcoming installment is the introduction of Canute. He was the character with long golden hair shown at the end of episode 8. Online sources have it that “Vinland Saga” episode 9 is officially titled “The Battle of London Bridge” meaning Canute is going to be one of the most important characters at this point.
Canute is the younger son of Denmark’s King Sweyn. Canute is the same age as Thorfinn, so he is still so young to lead a 4,000-strong army. But his father insists on doing so to force Canute to mature as he is his successor. Later in the series, the timid Canute will turn out to be a ruthless leader somehow with the help of Thorfinn. Meanwhile, “Vinland Saga” episode 9 will air on Sunday, Sept. 1 and will be released shortly on Amazon Prime Video.
