While the first “Watchdogs” game was underwhelming, it seems that the second installment in the series is shaping up to be a worthy follow-up, if the new gameplay trailer is anything to go by. The title allows players to hack practically anything that has a signal, including people. There are also new details regarding the multiplayer elements, which involve co-op and PVP.
In the video, “Watchdog 2” animation director Colin Graham took the helm of title protagonist “Marcus Holloway” while trying to accomplish missions in the sprawling open world set in San Francisco. Graham proceeded to showcase exactly what tools players will be able to use in the game, as well as their various choices in how they approach their missions.
As Polygon notes, driving is a major part of the game once again in terms of transportation, just like the first game. The driving mechanics have shown major improvements for the sequel, looking a lot more polished. This is largely thanks to the contributions by Ubisoft Reflections, the developers behind the “Driver” series.
Multiplayer is pretty much a part of the open world experience now, with players able to connect with others seamlessly for co-op mode. More than that, players will also see some PVP action if they commit a crime since that would draw the attention of other players. Up to three players can invade another gamer’s system, thus leading to plenty of mayhem.
Gamespot noted how especially tight the co-op is in terms of providing players with a lot of tactical options. The tools available to the players appear to be quite useful as well, which includes the use of drones to provide better vantage points.
“Watchdogs 2’ is scheduled for release on November 15 for the PS4, the PC, and the Xbox One. It’s already expected by Ubisoft to be one of its best-selling games of all time.
