‘Wonder Woman’ recently unveiled a most recent television spot with new footage of Gal Gadot in action as the titular superhero. Meanwhile, the upcoming film’s trailer first aired at the 2016 Comic-Con managed to steal the top rank on Twitter.
According to JoBlo, a new television spot for director Patty Jenkins’ first ever female superhero-fronted installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) has finally been released. It featured brand new footage of Gal Gadot as Diana Prince a.k.a. Wonder Woman entangled in chaotic action-packed battles.
The tv spot dropped on YouTube right after Warner Bros. released the first official trailer last week during the San Diego Comic-Con during the studios’ panel hosted by Conan O’Brien.
In attendance at the panel were Jenkins, Gadot, Connie Nielsen, and Chris Pine. Nielsen and Pine play Queen Hippolyta and Steve Trevor, respectively. The event also celebrated the 75th anniversary of the superheroine together with artist Nicola Scott and artist Jim Lee.
According to Comingsoon.com, Jenkins expressed her praise for Gadot’s performance as Wonder Woman saying that cast and crew were amazed at how the actress was willing to do anything in dedication for her role. Gadot recalled a specific scene they were filming at Mount Everest where she was only clad in her skimpy costume. She said, “In the freezing cold, wearing not much, but that’s okay. I love her. I wish I could bring you all back in time to the set so you could experience what we’ve been through. It was such a special unique experience.”
Jenkins also spoke about how Lynda Carter’s portrayal of Wonder Woman in the iconic television series aired in the 1970s left an impact. She said, “…everyone on the playground was saying who they’re going to be and saying I want to be Wonder Woman… she was everything. I wasn’t becoming one of the boys. It was every fantasy come true. That’s my memory…knowing you could be Wonder Woman.”
According to the Wall Street Journal, the ‘Wonder Woman’ Comic-Con trailer immediately took Twitter’s top spot after it went viral following its release. Data analytics firm ListenFirst Media noted that the trailer knocked Paul Feig’s remake of ‘Ghostbusters’ off the top 5 list after ‘Wonder Woman’ managed to get on.
In second place was DC’s ‘Suicide Squad’ followed by the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off/prequel film ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’. Finally, Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’ and a new ‘Blair Witch’ film took fourth and fifth place, respectively.
‘Wonder Woman’ is an upcoming action-adventure and fantasy film based on the DC comic books superhero of the same name. It is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot in the lead role. It is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2017.
