“Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” fans who have been longing to see more anime adaptations will finally get one, but it is not exactly the answer to their wishes. It was recently confirmed that the manga’s 10th volume will be released with a new anime-original episode.
‘Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku’ new anime episode plot
Seasonal anime shows mean fans will be subjected to the uncertainty of waiting for a new installment. That has been the case with “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” now that it had been more than two years since the latest episode based on canon source material was released. On the bright side, producers are not entirely leaving anime fans hanging.
The “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” volume 10 is now reported to be released with the second original anime disc sometime in 2021. The story will revolve around Ko and Naoya, but other details remain unknown. It is likely going to be as long as the first anime original episode, which was a little more than 20 minutes.
The first “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” OVA was titled “It Appeared Suddenly=Love” and was also released as an exclusive content with the manga’s 7th volume in March 2019. The first original anime episode centered around the days of Taro and Hanako. It was a nice addition to the series since the couple had been together since they were in high school.
‘Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku’ manga hits 10 million copies sold
Fans should not mistake the lack of “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” season 2 announcement as a sign of decreasing popularity. The franchise remains a famous one, especially in Japan, and that has been proven several times in the first half of 2020 alone.
More recently, the “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” manga sales surpassed 10 million copies sold. Just a few months earlier, a live-action movie was released in Japan and placed at #1 in the box office on its opening weekend with reported 169,000 tickets in sales. Some fans believe that the lack of enough source material to produce a full one-cour anime could be what’s keeping “Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku” season 2 from happening.
