After months of waiting, EA Play is finally launching for Xbox Game Pass subscribers using PC for gaming. The additional library of free games included in their monthly plan is going live before the end of the week.
EA Play’s PC playlist is going live this week on Xbox Game Pass
This is officially one of the biggest weeks for Xbox Game Pass. Around this time last week, Microsoft announced the addition of 20 Bethesda games following Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media. It was immediately followed by the announcement that five of those titles will support FPS Boost on Xbox Series X/S. Now, the EA Play is going live on Xbox Game Pass PC and PC subscribers on the Ultimate plan.
The EA Play launch on Xbox Game Pass PC was originally planned to take place in late 2020. However, Microsoft eventually announced it was pushed back for unspecified reasons while the launch proceeded for console players. Whatever caused the delay appeared to have been resolved as Xbox confirmed the EA Play library is going live for PC gamers on Thursday, March 18, at 2 p.m. PT.
There are a few things Xbox Game Pass members will have to do first before getting the EA Play games on their PC. Before the launch, they can get started by creating an EA account if they do not have it yet. Once EA Play for PC is available, they will download the EA Desktop app and sign in. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will then be asked to link their EA account and Xbox account.
Once this is completed, Xbox Game Pass members on PC can start browsing through the EA Play library for PC and download their desired game. Microsoft notes in a blog post that upon trying the first EA Play game, subscribers will be shown an instruction on how to complete the setup.
Xbox Game Pass PC members are getting ‘more than 60 games’ through EA Play
In the same post, Microsoft confirmed the EA Play launch would add more than 60 games -- at no additional cost -- to their catalog. This number is slightly lower than what was reported in an earlier leak that suggested up to 75 EA PC games will be added via EA Play.
Some of the most notable games that Xbox Game Pass PC and Ultimate can access on their computer include “The Sims 4,” “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” “FIFA 20,” “Titanfall 2,” and “Need for Speed: Heat.” EA Play also gives subscribers access to more recent releases through hours of game trials, including the in-season “FIFA 21.”
