Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to securing a robust investment and security agreement with the United States. Following a meeting with U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg, Zelenskiy emphasized the urgency of finalizing a deal that delivers tangible results.
"General Kellogg, a meeting which restores hope. We need strong agreements that will really work," Zelenskiy stated in his nightly address. He instructed officials to work swiftly and fairly to finalize the agreement, stressing that well-crafted details would lead to better outcomes.
The meeting occurred a day after Zelenskiy and U.S. President Donald Trump exchanged criticisms as U.S.-Russia talks proceeded without Ukraine’s participation.
Following discussions with Kellogg, Zelenskiy took to social media platform X, asserting Ukraine’s determination to achieve lasting peace and prevent future Russian aggression. "Ukraine is ready for a strong, effective investment and security agreement with the President of the United States. Our team is prepared to work 24/7 for swift and constructive progress," he wrote.
The talks also addressed Ukraine’s rejection of an initial U.S. proposal to develop rare earth minerals, alongside battlefield updates, security guarantees, and the return of prisoners of war.
Zelenskiy underscored the importance of U.S. strength in supporting Ukraine and global security. "It’s crucial for us—and the entire free world—that American strength is felt," he added.
The Ukrainian leader’s push for a solid partnership with Washington comes at a critical time, as Ukraine continues to navigate geopolitical tensions and defend its sovereignty against Russia.
