My work interrogates trajectories and experiences of migration, in particular that of marriage and labour, from an interdisciplinary framework of political economy, postcolonial feminism, and masculinities study. I have published in journals such as Modern Asian Studies, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and Journal of Intercultural Studies. I am also a filmmaker who has directed several award-winning documentaries on rural women in India and South Asia.
My current research titled, Love, Sexuality, and Masculinity in Troubled Times: Exploring Masculine Identity and Family Reunification Among Undocumented South Asian Male Migrants in Greece examines the intersections of xenophobia, Islamophobia, border regimes, and the politics of citizenship and migration in shaping masculine identity formation, Family Reunification policies, and the extraction of labour from undocumented South Asian male migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and India in Greece.
