Dr Brendon Hyndman is a Senior Lecturer and Course Director of Postgraduate Education studies at Charles Sturt University. He has previously worked in the School of Education at RMIT University, Charles Darwin University and Southern Cross University with roles that have included the Course Manager of the Bachelor of Teaching & Learning (Pre-service), Chair of School Board (Education) and Lecturing roles in Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) across over a dozen units in primary and secondary school teacher education. Dr Hyndman has widespread experience both advancing (as a researcher) and applying educational knowledge (as a qualified & registered school teacher) across a diverse range of primary, secondary and tertiary settings. He has been involved in teacher education since 2009. Since 2012, he has generated over 60 highly respected academic articles/publications (accepted, published or in press).
Dr Hyndman’s research has been focused on schools as a crucial setting to develop students’ physical activity participation, health and wellbeing. His research has been guiding teacher awareness of the range of influences and strategies to develop students’ engagement in physical activities via both informal, pedagogical and curricular approaches. The originality, innovation and impact of Dr Brendon Hyndman’s research is showcased by the media interest in his studies both nationally and internationally. He is the editor and primary author of the book 'Contemporary school playground strategies for healthy students
