Roland Paulsen is an associate professor of sociology and senior lecturer at Lund University. His research spans the sociology of work, medical sociology, and cultural studies, with a particular focus on the meaning - and meaninglessness - of work. These themes are explored in his books Return to Meaning: A Social Science with Something to Say (Oxford University Press, 2017) and Empty Labor: Idleness and Workplace Resistance (Cambridge University Press, 2014). He is also the author of the newly published Why We Worry: A Sociological Explanation (Routledge, 2024).
