Sarah Shair-Rosenfield is a Chair of Comparative Politics at the University of York, UK. Her areas of specialisation include comparative politics, political institutions, decentralization, gender, and Southeast Asia. Her scholarly work has been published by the University of Michigan Press and Oxford University Press, and has appeared in esteemed journals such as the Journal of Politics, Gender & Society, Electoral Studies, and Governance.
She has consulted with USAID and the UN on projects related to decentralized governance and the Women, Peace, and Security Framework. She received grants from the British Academy and American Political Science Association for her work on early career training and professional development. Together with York colleagues, she is joint Editor-in-Chief of Political Studies, the UK Political Science Association’s flagship journal, and with colleagues from North America and Southeast Asia she is a co-founder of the Women in Southeast Asian Social Sciences network.
