His research and teaching interests are related to the geographies of workers, workplaces, and organized labour. Past and current research projects include: labour union strategic research and union renewal; the role unions plan in urban economic development; immigrant workers in urban labour markets; labour market adjustment in tourism related sectors; the impact of climate change on workers; and the intersection between organized labour and populism.
