Professor Akyeampong's research focuses on teacher education in the global south, evaluation of large scale education programmes, education policy analysis in sub Sahara Africa and mathematics education. From 2011 to 2013, he served as a Senior Policy Analyst with the Education for All (EFA) Global Monitoring Report team in UNESCO, Paris.
