Apple will most likely launch its next operating system update, iOS 13, for iPhone and iPad this year. A recent report reveals that it will introduce a screen setting that favors nighttime users.
As first reported by Bloomberg, sources with knowledge on Apple's plans confirmed the company is slated to offer its a dark mode setting through the iOS 13. The upcoming feature is likely being added in consideration of those who like to use their devices at night.
Various mobile apps and websites have already introduced dark mode, also commonly referred to as night mode. There are claims that dark mode viewing is better for people's eyesight while others also deem it is more battery-efficient. So having a dark mode for all stock apps on an iOS 13-supported device makes a huge difference.
iOS 13 is also rumored to introduce improvements to CarPlay. This feature allows users to access their device through their in-vehicle display. But the upcoming changes through iOS 13 are still under wraps.
It is also reported that the iOS 13 will offer new features and improvements that are exclusive to iPads. Apple beefed up its tablet lineup in 2018 with an all-new iPad Pro. With that, it is not surprising that the Cupertino-based tech giant would like to follow up on that with major software upgrades.
One of the biggest iPad-only improvements on iOS 13 is a home screen overhaul and a more efficient file management options. The upcoming software update will reportedly let users switch from an app to web browser viewing without switching through multiple tabs.
Apple is expected to unveil the iOS 13 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that annually occurs in June. But the latest software update will likely go live at the same time when the new iPhones are available in stores sometime in fall.
